ILFRACOMBE ART & CRAFT SOCIETY - Ground Floor, Emmanuel Church - Wilder Road - Ilfracombe - EX34 9AW    -   01271 864864
(Opposite the Landmark Theatre and Ilfracombe Museum)  - OPEN DAILY from 10:30am

In the late sixties a small group of artists joined together with the object of raising money to support local charities, and to promote and encourage painting and craft skills in North Devon. They wanted to achieve this by displaying the work of local artists by means of an annual Exhibition.

Mr Walter Elliot, a very well known local artist, headed the group and to this day is still the President of the Ilfracombe Art & craft Society.

At first empty shops in the High Street were rented during the summer months. Then in 1975 space was obtained in the East Wing of the Pavillion (now demolished). The Exhibition stayed in the East Wing until 1990, then moved to the Hall of the Emmanuel Church for the next 4 years.

The Gallery returned to the East Wing for a further 3 years until the Pavillion was demolished.  The old TIC building was the home of the Gallery for the next 6 years until 2004.  We then negotiated a 7 year lease to rent the ground floor Hall of the Emmanuel Church, where we are still.

We are proud to have created an exhibition area for both Art and Craft that is probably the best Exhibition facility in North Devon, that is independent and non-subsidised.

We have maintained our ambition to support local charities and over the 40 years, have donated close on £100,000 to local causes. All items are hand made, and painted,by local artists, and each season there is an on-going raffle for a painting of your choice from three paintings offered.

We average over 40,000 visitors each season and are wheelchair, child and dog friendly.

WE ARE WELL WORTH A VISIT !!!

COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF !!!
